THE VILLA Carcassonne :
an artist’s nest at the foot of the ramparts
An artist’s house …
Our house, once occupied by the painter and sculptor Eugène Pech, is less than 400 meters from the main entrance to the Medieval City and the town center, called here “La Bastide”. Its 320m² are spread over two levels to which are added outbuildings, one of which was Eugène’s creation studio. Here and there you will find some subtle traces of its passage: the sculpted fireplace in the breakfast room, the mosaics in the Cannelle bathroom, small sculptures in the garden. Its artistic history is presented to you in a book available at the library corner.
… over 140 years old.
Built in 1880, renovated in 2008 to welcome visitors by offering them all the comfort necessary for a pleasant stay, it was sold in November 2016 to our little family. Little by little, we reclaimed the place, with work to develop the unsuitable private living area, then with the replacement of the 25 original frames, a complete renovation of the face. Each bedroom and bathroom have been renovated, equipped and decorated. The house has become more comfortable with the addition of air conditioning, theinsulation of the attic and recently a complete rehabilitation of the roof and gutters.
The medieval city of Carcassonne
An exceptional site classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the City of Carcassonne leaves no one indifferent.
Its history is marked by 2,000 years of conquest, the influence of Catharism and the crusader rides. Located on the right bank of the Aude, this fortified city is unique in Europe.

Your host: Juliette
Owner since 2016, Juliette shares this lovely home with her children Elsa and Martin, as well as Neige the little white cat and Coco the old turtle. Stories to tell, experiences to share… there will always be one for a moment of conviviality. Indeed, it was after 4 years of traveling in a motorhome from Alaska to Ushuaia that Juliette returned to Aude and her childhood memories. A return to France with memories in your head, images in your eyes but a wonder still intact. France is beautiful, truly beautiful, the immensity and splendor of the City of Carcassonne remind us of this every day
What I like about the trip is the surprise of the return … (Stendhal)
